Marjorie (Margie) was born in Lakeland, Louisiana to Wilfred Joseph Bello and Bernice Ann Amond. She is survived by her daughter, Susan D. Anderson (Thad Beckman, dec.) of Portland, Oregon, and her sister, Jeanette Marie Page (Frank Page) of Baton Rouge. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Robert Onan Anderson, Jr., and their sons Randall Wayne Anderson and Brian Scott Anderson.
Robert and Marjorie were married in 1958 at Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. They became lifelong members of Istrouma, and were devoted to their faith, their family, and their friends.
Marjorie had a long, enjoyable, and successful career in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System as an Elementary School Teacher’s Aide; students and teachers alike appreciated her creativity, her devotion to the children’s education and well-being, and her loving kindness; many became her friends.
After her retirement and for many years, Marjorie participated in an Istrouma Baptist Church visitation program focused on homebound seniors. Marjorie truly loved her church where she and Robert developed long-standing friendships. They devoted much of their lives to practicing their faith and supporting the church and congregation they treasured so dearly.
Marjorie loved baking for her Sunday School class and her neighbors and friends. A friend to all the animals, she rescued and cared for many cats and dogs. It gave her great joy to feed the animals and to feed anyone who came to her home. Marjorie maintained a wonderful sense of humor even into her final years, even after so much loss and heartache.
An avid reader throughout her life, Marjorie frequented and supported her public libraries and maintained a large volume of reading materials at home. She was also a tremendous sports fan, basketball being her favorite sport to watch, and a devout LSU Tigers and New Orleans Pelicans fan.
Marjorie Anderson is greatly missed. Her sense of humor, her generosity, her inner and outer beauty, her love for God and compassion for those less fortunate will stay with us as we remember her always.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel in the Worship Center at Istrouma Baptist Church, 10500 Sam Rushing Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Thursday March 5, 2026, 1:00-2:00 p.m. Interment at Greenoaks Cemetery will follow at a later date in a private family ceremony.
