Marjorie Raborn Sandifer passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, surrounded by her family. Born on April 11, 1928, she was 86 years old and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Alonzo Sandifer; one daughter, Reba Diane Sandifer Conefry and husband, Michael; one son, Daniel Keith Sandifer and wife, Theresa; one grandson, Brett Daniel Sandifer; and three step-grandchildren, Kelli Wales, Eric Wales, and Celeste Conefry DelToro and her husband, James. She loved her "adopted" granddaughter, Lori LeBlanc Tremblay and a special place in her heart belonged to her "other" daughter, Elaine P. Hynes who was always there when needed. She is also survived by three younger brothers, Robert L. Raborn, Dr. Charles P. Raborn and wife Adrienne, and William P. Raborn and wife Margie, all of Baton Rouge and numerous nieces and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, John Davis Raborn, Sr. and Youndy Lavina Duplissey Raborn, and her three older brothers, Dewey Raborn, John Raborn, Jr., and Wiley Raborn. Marjorie graduated from Istrouma High School in 1945, after which she went to work for Gulf States Utilities. She later worked for the State of Louisiana at Greenwell Springs Hospital in the Payroll Department. Her greatest joys in life were her immediate and extended family, her Sunday School class, and her church. Marjorie was a "giver" to all and loved watching all those that she loved flourish and grow. Her faith in God sustained her through all of her 86 years and especially the last few weeks. Special thanks go out to God's angels Becky Richardson, Sandy Smith, Brenda Bankston, and Liz Walker - her sitters who were with her always and also to Hospice in His Care who gave her family the strength to let her go. Pallbearers for Marjorie will be Brett Sandifer, Michael Conefry, Eric Wales, Michael Raborn, Kenny Sandifer, and Robert Smith. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA.
