

Martha A. James, 88, of Pride, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026. Born on June 8, 1938, in Florence, South Carolina, Martha lived a life marked by love, service, and devotion to her family and community. She spent many years as a dedicated hairdresser, caring for others not only through her profession but also through her generous spirit. Martha enjoyed quilting, sewing, and cooking, and found great joy in using her talents to bless those around her. She faithfully served in her church's food pantry, reflecting her compassionate heart and commitment to helping others. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Thad Ward and Olea Locklair Ward; and her brothers, Thad Ward Jr. and Charles Ward. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Willie R. James, with whom she shared many cherished years. She is also survived by her children, Gaye (Brent) Truesdell, Rhonda (Jocko) May, and Robbie (Kelli) James; her grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Nichole, Jordan, and Krymson; her great-granddaughter, Hallie; and her great-great-grandchildren, Max and Stormi. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will remember her with love. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory East, 11000 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at Immanuel Baptist Church, 10870 Lovett Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70818, on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815. Martha's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the generations of loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
