A retired attorney and a native and resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at St. James Place. He was 81 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home chapel, 825 Government St., on Monday, May 5, from 1 p.m. until religious service at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ted Roeling Jr. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by a sister, Shirley Kellen, of Baton Rouge; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Judy Schroeder, of Richland, Wash.; three nieces, Susan McCurley, Kathryn Kellen and Martha Breckenridge, all of Baton Rouge; and two nephews, Carl Schroeder Jr. and Michael Schroeder, both of Richland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leila Schroeder; and his parents, Martin and Nettie Schroeder. He was a graduate of Thibodaux High School, received a bachelor degree from LSU and was a graduate of the LSU Law School. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to American Heart Association or St. Joseph Hospice.
