Marvin Ray Garrene III, 49, of Central, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was a native of Baton Rouge and graduate of Glen Oaks High School in 1980. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Friday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by Brother Jim Efferson. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Debbie Garrene; father and mother, Marvin "Sonny" Jr. and Mary Claire Garrene; daughter, Macey Garrene; two stepdaughters, Mindy Pickering and Lacey Gill; stepson, Dustin Gill; two sisters, Renee Gibbs and husband Greg, and Rhonda Hall and husband J.D.; and four stepgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Christian Dietrich; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin and Viola Garrene. Special thanks to Dr. Abernathy for her love, support, compassion, nurturing and devoted care over and above the call of duty, and the fourth floor nurses at Pennington Cancer Center.
