Margaret Ann Raines Briggs went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009. Seldom has this Earth seen a kinder, gentler soul. A most loving and loved lady, she will be sorely missed by all who came to know her. She took great pleasure in raising her family in Monroe and Baton Rouge. She was a master quilter and organized the Lagniappe Quilt Club. She was a member of Broadmoor Methodist Church. She was born in Beeville, Texas, on April 25, 1933. She spent her life devoted to her family including her husband of 57 years. Survived by her husband, William B. Briggs, of Baton Rouge; son, William David Briggs, and daughter-in law, Barbara Fitzgerald Briggs, of Shreveport; daughter, Terri Briggs DuCote, and son-in-law, Gregory Joseph DuCote, of Baton Rouge; granddaughter, Kelly Briggs Henderson and grandson-in-law, Tyler James Henderson; and grandson, William Patrick Briggs, of Mandeville. The family would like to take this opportunity to recognize her faithful caregivers, Albertha Thomas and Doris Coats. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the American Heart Association. Preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Essie Lusk Raines. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Feb. 18, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes on Thursday in the funeral home chapel from 1 p.m. until religious service at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev.
