

Mary Ethel Delage, age 96, passed away on June 13, 2025. Ethel was born on June 14, 1928. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lionell and Alverda LeJeune Delage. In 1931, the Delage family moved to Hammond, Louisiana. Ethel attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School and graduated from Hammond High School in 1944. Ethel and her parents moved to Baton Rouge in 1946. Ethel was a sales executive and buyer for Rider's Jewelers for 30 years. As a second career, she worked for Governor Dave Treen and then for the Louisiana State Senate. She is survived by her chosen family, Eric and Mariangie Hill, Neila Eckler, Vera Olds, J. Hasan, Dr. Randy Cafferal, Dr. Monty Thames, Father Cleo Milano, Mary Beth Chevalier and Judy Ewell Day. Also, her grandsons, Alex Hill and Adam Ewell Day; great granddaughter, Mikayla Marie Day and cousin, Gayle Palermo. Special thanks to friends, Judy Monte and Cookie Howard, for their loving support. Also thanks to The Hospice of Baton Rouge and their Palliative Care team and the staff of Sunrise Assisted Living Facility for their care and compassion. Finally, we express appreciation to Dr. Lieux and his staff for their long term care. A memorial visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday, June 19, at 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, celebrated by Father Cleo Milano. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
