A former employee with South Central Bell and a resident of Baker, she died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 95 and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Zoar Baptist Church on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Kevin Hand. Interment in the church cemetery. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Edwards; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. L. Birch Edwards; nephews, Terry and Darryl Cheatham; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jules T. Edwards; parents, Edwin Douglas Cheatham and Laura Carmena Cheatham; sister, Laura Brown; and brothers, Louis Cheatham and Edwin Douglas Cheatham Jr. Pallbearers will be Wallace Edwards, Billy Nickens, Terry Cheatham and Donald Lovett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 11848 Hooper Road, Central City, LA 70818 or a favorite charity.
