

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a retired teacher's aide with the East Baton Rouge Parish school system. She was 82, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Plaucheville. She passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Feb. 21, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by a brother, Paul Gibbons Bordelon; five children, Jimmie Barr and wife Karen, Marsha Yarborough and husband Bobby, Carolyn Barr, Sonia Taylor and husband David, and Mark Barr; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman James Barr; parents, Theogene and Belle Bordelon; brothers, Rhine and T.J. Bordelon; and sister, Elnora Ducote. Pallbearers will be Sean and Brad Barr, Josh Yarborough, Brandon Jumonville, Marshall and Austin Hill. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and its Small Faith Bible Study. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Joseph Hospice or St. Patrick Catholic Church
