A retired nurse and resident of Baton Rouge, she died Monday, May 28, 2007, at 8:30 p.m. in Denham Springs. A native of New Orleans, she was 100 years and 8 months old. A private family Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, on Wednesday, May 30, the Rev. Cleo Milano, celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by a brother, Guyton Powers of Spokane, Wash.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father, Robert Wycliffe Powers; mother, Emilie Marionneaux; sister, Volina Powers; son, Robert Peter Garic Jr.; daughter, Jane Garic McDaniel; and three brothers, Baldwin Powers, Holden Powers and Robert Powers. Pallbearers will be Barry Jenkins, Garic Jenkins, Eric Hartzog, Bobby Garic, Tommy Garic and David Williams. Honorary pallbearers are great-grandsons and great-great-grandsons. Mrs. Kirn served as a physician's office nurse and manager in New Orleans until her retirement at age 70, when she moved to Baton Rouge. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home East.
