Mary Penalber Kurtz, former resident of Seattle and longtime visitor of Baton Rouge, passed away on January 9, 2014 at her home. She was born in Galvez, LA on September 18, 1962. Mary was known for her giving nature, her soft spot for people, and her loving harassment of those she cherished the most. She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Elizabeth and Joellen Faye; wife, Cate; dad, Kenneth; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and a plethora of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bettie Jo; father, Fellman; grandmother, Carrie Elizabeth; and one brother. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 5:00 pm until the Celebration of Life service begins at 7:00 pm.
