

Mary W. Landry a native of White Castle and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the Carpenter House, St. Joseph Hospice on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at 10:35 a.m. She was 99. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was a retired nursing aide and caregiver. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for 25 years. She is survived by daughter Odile Marie Weber Ventress; grandsons Ronald Paul Ventress and Darrel Wayne Ventress and wife Melissa Leblanc Ventress; great grandchildren, Amy Ventress Miller and Husband Gabriel Miller, Rory Lane Ventress, Thomas Paul Ventress, Jessica Marie Ventress, Garrett Joseph Ventress, and great great grandaughter Jolie Nicole Ventress as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Landry and Evelyn Callegan Landry; sisters Gertie Landy and Irene Landry Hidalgo; brothers Joseph, Wallace, Junius, Edmond, Roy, and Wilbert Landry; and son-in-law Joseph Emerson Ventress. Visitation at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 17 from 12 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Deacon Peter Walsh. Pallbearers will be Edmond Landry Jr., Jeffrey Landry, Ronald, Darrel, Rory, and Thomas Ventress. Her family would like to express special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, the staff at Egan Home Health, and Tracie Roussel R.N. for their compassionate care during her final days.
