A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she died at 2:16 p.m.Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A homemaker, she was 79 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Friday, Jan. 5, from 3 p.m.to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m.Visitation will resume at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m.until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., concelebrated by the Rev. Jerry Martin and the Rev. Than Vu. A private graveside service atGreenoaksMemorial Parkwill be held at a later date. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Samuel J. Marino Sr.; four daughters, Mary-Margaret Marino, Theresa Ann Marino Davenport and husband Michael, Rose Marie Marino Westmoreland and husband Britt, and Gina Marie Marino Cox and husband Cordell; two sons, Lawrence Russell Marino and wife Paulette, Samuel J. Marino Jr. and wife Paula; grandchildren, Samuel "Trey" Marino III and wife Aimee, Lauren Danielle Marino-Francis and husband Scott, Jessica Davenport, Megan Westmoreland, Kristen Marino and Christina Marie Cox; great-grandchildren, Bradley Francis and Catherine Ann Francis; and two sisters-in-law, Lena Marino Polite and Irma L. Marino. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosario and Mary Rose Dimaio Montagnino; sister, Rose Montagnino; and brothers, Angelo, Michael, Joseph and Nicholas Montagnino. Pallbearers will be Samuel "Trey" Marino III, Russell Marino, Thomas Marino, Joseph Salpietra Jr., Donald Salpietra and Tom Mackey. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Christopher McCannless, Dr. Gerald Barber, Dr. William Anderson, Ronald Salpietra, Jack V. Scardina, Skip Courtney, Van Guarino, Ken Orr, James Kent, Shawn Copsey, Scott Francis, Jeffrey Miller, Jeremy Domingue, Mike McIntosh and Bill Sistrunk. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, The Grandsons of Italy Auxiliary, American Italian Association, American Legion Nicholson Post 38 Auxiliary and St. Joseph Academy Alumni Association and a graduate of the 1944 class, and Ladies Altar Society. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge and their staff members, Misty Fernea, Gwen Popleon, Maureen Quinlan, Kristen Montalbano, Duane Breaux and Rae Centanni. She was dearly loved and will be dearly missed by those whom she touched. She courageously fought cancer for four years and is now in God's arms.
