

Mary Jane Field Mayfield was born July 31, 1918, in Dallas, Texas and died at her home in Baton Rouge September 23, 2014, at the age of 96. She was a longtime member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where she chaired the Parsonage Committee for many years. In 1968, she was one of the first women elected as a voting member of the Woman's Hospital Foundation and continued to serve in that capacity until January 2000, when she took emeritus status. She also served on the Board of Commissioners of Hospital Service District No. 3 from 1975-2005. She was an active member of La Lecture book club, Brokettes stock club and the Decorators club. She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Drew Mayfield; her parents, Joe Yancey Field and Rose Cockrell Field; a brother, John Field; and a sister, Lucy Field Belknap. She is survived by her children, John Drew Mayfield, of Nashville, Tenn., and Lucy Rose Mayfield and Mary Jo Mayfield, both of Baton Rouge. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren, Dillon John Mayfield, of Nashville,; Austen Michael Delahaye and his wife, Caroline, of Baton Rouge and; Mary Field Delahaye Wise and her husband, Andy, of Atlanta; and great grandchildren Mary Michael and Thomas Delahaye and Mary Drew and Hayes Wise. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Ralph Belknap; nieces Kate Belknap-Bruchak and Laura Belknap Calley; and nephews John Field, Joe Field and Tom Field. She loved her family and friends passionately and unselfishly and her example will be cherished. Mary Jane would want you to always remember to " Smile and Pass A Good Time-"”you'll live longer!" Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Broadmoor United Methodist Church 10230 Mollylea Drive, Baton Rouge, La.; with visitation to follow in the Adult Building from 12 o'clock noon until 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the Woman's Hospital Foundation, Office of Development, 100 Woman's Way, Baton Rouge, La. 70817; Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Hospice of Baton Rouge, or to the charity of one's choice.
