Mary Alice Moore, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at her home. She graduated from LSU with a degree in journalism. She volunteered at Baton Rouge General Medical Center for 20 years and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, NARFE, Baton Rouge Garden Club and Ikebana International. Visitation at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 11 a.m. until funeral service in the Dunham Chapel at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dick Gates officiating. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Jenkins; and numerous cousins. Preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Lillie Wise; husband, James R. Moore; sister, Lillie Bovard; and brother-in-law, Sentell Bovard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church sanctuary renovation fund. Special thanks to her caregivers, Barbara White and Cheryl Newsom who allowed her to enjoy life to the end.
