Mary Anne Gerome Ortiz

She was a special-education assistant atSouthdownsElementary School. She died at 12:45 p.m.Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Our Lady of theLakeRegionalMedicalCenter. She was 57 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Jan. 29, from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m.Visiting at St. Jude Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m.until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David E. Allen, celebrant. Interment in St. George Catholic Church Cemetery. She is survived by a son, Ricardo A. "Richie" Ortiz Jr.; sister, Jo Carolyn Gerome Mayeux and her husband, Everett; brother, Frank John Gerome; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ricardo A. Ortiz Sr.; and a son, David A. Ortiz. Pallbearers will be her nephews and close friends. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a 1967 graduate ofBaton RougeHigh School. Memorial donations may be made to AARC (American Association of Retarded Citizens.)
