Mary Morris Pearson

Born on April 2, 1941, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Mary was the daughter of Alton Racel Morris and Elaine June Monk Morris.

Mary is survived by her children, Lisa Parker King (Ernie), Kenzie Wayne Parker, and Lyman Bruce Parker; her brother, Alton Morris (Kat); her brother-in-law, Reno Verzier; grandchildren, Aaron Heuvel (Julie), Adam Parker (Adrienne), Julianna Andre (Luke), Alissa Gocken (Sam), AJ Parker, and Jonah King (Anna Grace); 7- great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins all of whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton Pearson; her brother, Wayne Morris and his wife, Patricia; her sister, Vickie Verzier; her former husband and the father of her three children, Lyman Julian Parker; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Mary graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She devoted much of her life to raising her family, caring for those she loved, and serving others with generosity, kindness, and remarkable talent.

An exceptionally skilled seamstress, Mary created beautiful clothing for her daughter and other family members. Her craftsmanship extended beyond garments, as she also designed and fabricated custom vinyl seat covers for vehicles, protective covers for outdoor equipment, and covers for musical instruments.

Mary's creativity led her to employment at the Denham Springs Paint and Wallpaper Store. Long before computerized color-matching systems existed, she was known for her extraordinary ability to match paint colors by eye. She delighted in helping others transform their homes through painting, wallpapering, and thoughtful decorating, and she also enjoyed refurbishing and building furniture.

Later, Mary joined Whitehead Travel in Denham Springs, where she found great joy in helping others plan memorable vacations. A naturally social person, she loved cruising, traveling, and meeting new people. In her later years, she and her husband served as hosts at Louisiana and Mississippi state campgrounds, where she became known for her warm hospitality, welcoming spirit, and delicious home cooking. She also enjoyed cooking for church gatherings and contributed recipes to many cookbooks.

Mary possessed an incredible range of talents and practical knowledge. Whether someone needed help sewing a garment, matching paint, repairing furniture, or even troubleshooting a hot water heater, she was the person everyone called. She had an uncanny ability to figure out almost anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Mary also found great joy in God's creation. She loved tending her roses, flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and rock gardens, and she delighted in watching hummingbirds visit her yard. Everywhere she traveled, she collected rocks as keepsakes of her adventures, and nothing pleased her more than when family and friends brought her a special rock or beautiful flower to add to her cherished collections.

Above all else, Mary's greatest joy was her family. She poured her love into every generation, creating a legacy of strength, service, creativity, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her example, kindness, and countless memories will live on in their hearts forever.
