

Mary Catherine Prather (Cacky) of Baton Rouge passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Baton Rouge General Hospital. She was born October 8, 1936, to the union of Lt. Col. Carroll W. and Dezzie Sistrunk Prather. She was the youngest of seven children. Cacky was a loving sister and aunt to many nieces and nephews and a friend to all who knew and loved her. Cacky grew up in North highland Baptist Church. Growing up in north Highland, she enjoyed working in her mother’s vegetable and flower gardens, and she was a fantastic cook. She retired from Louisiana State Police as an accountant and was a long time member of Baton Rouge Chapter 163 Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers C.W., Jimmy, and R.K. Prather, and sister Louise Fritsche, sisters-in-law Catherine, Connie, and Dora Prather, and brothers-in-law, Raymond Roy and Ken Fritsche. She is survived by sisters Sadie P. Roy of DeRidder, LA, and Nell P. Lester and husband W.J. Lester of Stonewall, LA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. Memorials may be made in Mary Catherine’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 26 Danny Thompson Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-3678. An Eastern Star graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 12pm in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
