

"Mary Jo Saale, 83 years old, died on Sunday, October 15, 2017. She was born November 9, 1933 in Thayer, Mo. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 64 years, C.A. (Chip) Saale and her six children: Cindy Wilson and husband, Jim, of Conroe, Tx; Judy Vercher and husband, Jimmy, of Central, La; Karen McDonner and husband, Jim, of Slidell, La; Bruce Saale of Maurepas, La; David Saale and wife Jill, of Port Allen, La; and Jeff Saale of Port Allen, La. She is survived by 18 grandchildren: Ray Carlton, Ryan Wilson, Michael Wilson, Marianne Covington, Alyssa Kairdolf, Brian Vercher, Jason Witko, Shane Witko, Matthew McDonner, Michael McDonner, Nicholas McDonner, Lauren Nutt, Daniel Saale, Jeremy Saale, Blake Saale, Nicholas Saale, Zachary Saale, Austin Saale, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her two fathers, John Berner and Lawrence Fern, her mother, Corinnia Berner, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Saale. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland, La and a past president of the Ladies Altar Society. Mary Jo loved quilting and enjoyed making each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren a quilt of their own. She was employed for 11 years at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government St. The family wishes to thank her doctors and staff at Ochsner Physicians Group and Dr. Philip Padgett. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ryan Wilson, Brian Vercher, Jason and Shane Witko, Daniel, Jeremy, and Blake Saale, and Nicholas and Austin Saale. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Wilson and Matthew McDonner. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government St. Tuesday, October 17, from 5pm "“ 9pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, October 18, from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland, La. to be officiated by Fr. Todd Lloyd. Interment will be at the church cemetery immediately following Mass. Mary Jo and Chip are longtime supporters of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to that charity.
