Mary Morris Wall

A retired educator and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 25, 1931. Mary graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1948, received her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from LSU, and was a licensed professional counselor. While at LSU, she was Homecoming Queen in 1950 and a member of Chi Omega sorority. During her professional career, she taught third grade at Broadmoor Elementary School, was the founding principal of St. Luke's Episcopal School, and served as guidance counselor at South Boulevard Elementary School. She was also a sustaining member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge and a member of The Reviewers Book Club. Visiting at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70808, on Saturday, July 10, from 11:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Gerald Burns, celebrant. Interment in Roselawn Cemetery. Survived by her husband, Dr. David Weeks Wall; daughter, Catherine Carlock Simpson and husband Eugene; stepdaughters, Charlotte Kidd Ray, Mary Martha Wall and husband Ron White, and Eleanor Wall; stepsons, Dr. James M. Kidd III and wife Carla, and David Wall Jr.; brother, Dr. Clifton T. Morris Jr. and wife Eleanor; sister-in-law, Ann Morris; grandchildren, Patrick Ray, Robyn Ray Richards and husband Gary, Phillip Ray, Mackenzie Kidd, Katherine Anne Kidd, Farran Carlock, Andrew Simpson, Mary Elise Schlessinger and Catherine Grace Schlessinger; great-grandchild, Mary Virginia Richards; soon-to-be-born great-grandchild, Charlotte Richards; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Daniel G. Carlock III and David Carlock; brother, Dr. William G. Morris; parents, Dr. Clifton T. and Florence Morris; late husband, James M. Kidd Jr.; and former husband, Daniel G. Carlock Jr. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Aloysius Catholic School Trust Fund or St. John Interparochial School, 24250 Regina St., Plaquemine, LA 70764.
