Mary Lillian Zalfen, age 97, passed away on June 3, 2026. Born on November 19, 1928, Mary was a resident of Brusly, Louisiana. Mary will be remembered with deep respect for the steady devotion she brought to her home and family, and for a life shaped by quiet generosity. A gifted homemaker, she was widely known for her cooking and for the care she expressed through every meal shared and every table welcomed. Her skill as an accomplished sewist reflected both patience and purpose—hands that could mend, create, and provide, always with others in mind. Mary’s giving spirit was evident in the way she lived each day: selfless, attentive, and ready to help. Her door was always open to anyone, and those who crossed her threshold found warmth, kindness, and a sincere sense of belonging. She also found joy in square dance and round dance, interests that carried her beyond home and into the wider world through travels in her motor home—journeys marked by companionship, music, and the simple pleasure of going where the road led. Mary is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Warren,Jr. and Rozanne of Baton Rouge, Ronald (Ron) and Robhyn of Brusly; 8 grandchildren, Rhonda and Jack Haggard, Laurie and Brian Meyer, Mark Zalfen, Tracy and Casey Kinchen, Michelle and Josh Jones, Jonathan and Laura Zalfen, Andrew and Amanda Zalfen and Charles and Cara Zalfen; 14 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Blanche Pedepau; husband, Warren Zalfen, Sr. and son, David Zalfen. Visitation for Mrs. Zalfen will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 8:00am until Mass at 10:00am.
