Maurice “Mickey” Maranto, born July 26, 1949, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on August 3, 2026 from Lewy Body Dementia. He was 77 years old. Mickey lived a life marked by service and commitment. He served in the Air Force during Vietenam, then went on to spend his career in public service, working with the Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and the State Police. After retiring, he continued serving at the Attorney General's office as an investigator. Above all, Mickey was a family man showing a deep love for his children, his family and those closest to him. He was known for enjoying life, making people laugh, and bringing energy into every room he entered. As the life of the party, he will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and easy spirit. Mickey will be remembered with love for the life he lived, the service he gave, and the joy he brought to others. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Blackwood Maranto; his children, Scott Martin Maranto and Angelina Michelle Krail; his three grandchildren, Sophia Grace Maranto, David Michael and Jackson Riley Krail; and his siblings Charles, Patrick, Allison Sheridan and William Maranto. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Anthony Maranto and Alice Katherine Maranto. And his brothers Doug, Jimmy, Tommy and Chris Maranto. Mickey was an avid Harley rider, had a love for collecting guns and good music. As a trooper, he competed on the competitive shooting team.
