
He was a native of Pride, a boilermaker for Delta Southern for 28 years before his retirement, and a graduate of Pride High School. Max was called home at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at his home in Pride. He was 74. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, May 23, was from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home chapel on Sunday, May 24, from 11 a.m. until the religious service at 2 p.m. Interment in Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Pride. He is survived by his wife, Martha Morgan Hanna; two sons, Rip Hanna and wife Kim, and Chip Hanna and wife Erin; seven grandchildren, Nicole Hanna, Kristen Bordelon, Brittney Gueho, Makayla Hanna, Max Baer Hanna III, Noel and Krystal; a great-grandchild, Keira Bordelon; two more expected great-grandchildren, one girl and one boy, this summer; brother, Clyde Hanna; five sisters, Joann Coniglio; Gaye Major, Syble Ashford, Gloria Ballard and Bobby Baker; eight nieces and nine nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Max Baer Hanna Jr.; granddaughter, Faith Marie Hanna; parents, Ernest M. and Berte McCrae Hanna; and a sister, Stella Brown. Max Baer Hanna Sr. was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed dearly by many. We know he will be looking down on us all from heaven.
