

Mearid Rivette Robichaux peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the age of 96. She was born on December 1, 1925, in Franklin, LA, and was a long time resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Mearid was a devoted stay-at-home mom raising her three children, and she later gained employment at the LSU Graduate School where she worked for many years. She enjoyed playing tennis with her friends and teammates, participating in tournaments as well as the Senior Olympics. She and her buddies frequently gathered to play Bridge and visit. Among her other interests were reading and traveling to destinations such as Israel and Rome. Mearid was a kind, generous Christian lady who was selfless and friendly to all. Mearid is survived by her children, Wayne E. Robichaux, Jr., Joan R. Hutson (Herman), and Margaret A. Robichaux; grandchildren, Camille and Candice Hutson; great-grandchildren, Maverick D. Arvel and Jordyn S. Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wayne E. Robichaux Sr., Ph. D.; parents, Philip and Ada Rivette; and sister, Barbara Barilleaux. Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, September 21, from 10am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Mearid's caretakers at St. James Life Care and the staff at Hospice of Baton Rouge for their loving care.
