Melvin Roscoe Hicks went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Doris, on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010. Born on March 19, 1918, in Shreveport, he was the last surviving child of Robert Bruce Roscoe and Allie Gale Hicks. His stepfather was Judge Cal D. Hicks, and Melvin always considered him a father, even changing his name to Hicks. Melvin was a navigator in World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a decorated veteran and always loved his family and his country. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Tom Petrilla, and Carlanne and Donald Hickman; and grandchildren, LeeAnne Locken and Katy Genden. He is now at peace with the Lord. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Monday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m.
