
Beloved son and brother and a senior atCatholicHigh School, he died Sunday morning, Oct. 8, 2006, in Baton Rouge. He was 18 and a resident of Baton Rougefor 13 years. Michael was born Aug. 15, 1988, inFort Walton Beach, Fla., brought into this world by his own father's hands. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 6 p.m.to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m.Visiting at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m.until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael J. Moroney, celebrant. Graveside service at 2 p.m.Thursday at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 in New Orleans. Michael is survived by his parents, Glenn M. Gomes, M.D., and Sallye E. Gomes; sister, Nyssa E. Gomes; brother, Jason R. Gomes; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Patricia Gomes; uncles, Eugene J. Gomes III and wife Ginger, Minneapolis, and Brian D. Gomes, Baton Rouge; cousins, Evan Gomes and wife Amy, New Orleans, and Emily Ostlund and husband Eric, and Austin Gomes, all of Minneapolis; second cousin, Van M. Barnhill, Florien, and his children, Vanessa and Michael Van Barnhill; and great-aunt, Pauline Stringer. Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pearl O. and Harold V. Andersen; and second cousin, Shirley Jane Barnhill. Family members and close friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are his fellow senior members of theCatholicHigh Schoolcross-country and track team. Michael was a member ofSt. ThomasMoreChurchand the French Club and Art Club atCatholicHigh School.
