
Mike lost his battle with cancer on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, while in the loving care of his children. He will always be remembered as a kind and loving man who always helped those less fortunate than himself. A retired employee of Wal-Mart, he was born in Brookhaven, Miss., on Dec. 5, 1942, and resided in Watson. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Greenwell Springs, on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until a Catholic Mass at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael J. Moroney, celebrant. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his daughter, Ashley Larkin Spiers; two sons, Michael Alan Larkin Jr. and fiancée Kimberly Allen, and John Ashton Larkin and companion Brad Shook; grandchildren, Hayley Elise Elizabeth Spiers, Sydney Nicole Spiers, Dylan Thomas Larkin and Zachary Cole Larkin; godmother, Irma T. Guidry; two sisters, Linda L. Roberts and husband Woody, and Judy L. Horne and husband Danny; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Rufus G. Larkin and Edith S. Larkin; and godfather, Ivan R. Guidry Sr. Pallbearers will be Michael Larkin Jr., Laurence LeSage Sr., Frank Polito Jr., Danny Horne, Chad Horne and Ryan Dornier. Junior pallbearers will be Dylan Thomas Larkin and Zachary Cole Larkin. A special thanks to Ms. Ollie and Ms. Barbara with Highland Hospice and the rest of the staff for taking such wonderful care of our father.
