Michael Y. Norwood

Michael York Norwood, a resident and native of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully into the Lord's arms at his home on Sunday, May 27, 2012. He was 63. He was the Vice-President of Catholic Community Radio (1380 AM) and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Tipmasters, and was involved with many other church and community-related activities. His real passion in life was Catholic Community Radio and spending as much time as possible with his "little buddy" Baylor. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., and Thursday, May 31, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Martin, celebrant. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Heil Norwood, 2 daughters, Tracy Lee Norwood of Mandeville, and Megan Estelle Norwood of New Roads, and a grandson, Baylor Michael Norwood. Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. York Norwood and Marguerite Himel Norwood. Pallbearers will be Pat Heil, Don Heil, Darrel Heil, David Dawson, Johnny Hebert, Rick Blackstone, Jim Cazes and Jarrell Hopper. Honorary pallbearers are Manual Broussard, and Drake Heil.
