Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Army whose strength, dedication, and character defined his life. For many years, he worked as a carpenter, but to those who knew him best, he was far more--gifted woodworker and metal craftsman. Mike had a rare talent for bringing ideas to life. If he could imagine it, he could build it. Most of his creations came straight from his own mind, without patterns or plans, making each piece uniquely his. His legacy lives on through the many rockers, swings, knives, and pens he handcrafted—treasured keepsakes that continue to bring joy to those who received them.
Mike deeply loved his family. His wife, Linda, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were at the center of his world. He also had a simple but genuine love for good food. You could never go wrong inviting Mike over for a home-cooked meal, and if dessert was included, especially something with lemon, you had truly made his day.
Mike’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered not only for his skill and creativity but for his warmth, his devotion to family, and the lasting impact he made on so many lives.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Brice Pourciau; children, Michael Self (Staci), Kim Rollins (Jeff), and Melissa Harris (Jerry); sister, Abby Pourciau Leonard (Phil); grandchildren, Cameron Self (Stephanie), Chrysa Hopkins (Cody), Brandon Rollins, Hallie Talley (Seth), Megan Murray (Hunter), Taylor Self (Daylon), Riley Harris, and Julien Burge; great grandchildren, Anthony Hopkins, Karlynn Talley, Nathan Hopkins, Bostyn Talley, Harrison Hopkins, Lynnedyn Hopkins, Oaklyn Talley, Bryce Murray, and Beckham Bearden; sisters-in-law, Betty and Jeannie Pourciau; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Joseph Pourciau, Sr. and Lucy Truax Pourciau; five brothers, Alvin “Boogie” Pourciau, AJ Pourciau, Bobby Pourciau, Harold Pourciau, Sr., and Darrell Pourciau.
