

Michael Philip Sotile, Sr. passed away peacefully on June 17 at 11:00 pm, at the age of 80. He was born March 6, 1933 in Donaldsonville, LA, the third child of Rosa Giambrone and Philip Sotile. After graduating from Catholic High of Donaldsonville and Southwestern Louisiana he joined the United States Air Force and received his wings as a Captain in 1959. He received his Master of Library Science from Louisiana State University and worked in the Middleton Library for 30 years. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Marion Daigle Sotile, two children Michael Sotile, Jr and his wife Sara Kavanaugh and their children Michael Sotile, III and Mary Sutton Sotile; his daughter Marcia Sotile Sanchez and her husband Marc Sanchez and their children Madeline Claire and Mary Margaret Sanchez. He is also survived by his sister Concetta Sotile DeLouise and brother Vincent Joseph Sotile and wife Vivian, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a long time member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where he was the “head usher” of the 5:30 mass. A service in celebration of his life will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Thursday, June 20 with visitation from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pall-bearers will be long-time friends, James Doiron, Carl Fontenot, Terry Hebert, Bill Pizzolato, son-in-law Marc Sanchez and grandson Michael Philip Sotile, III. The family would like to thank Dr. Reuben Fabrega for his wonderful care and friendship for the last 16 years.
