A retired employee of Woman's Hospital, she passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center after a lengthy illness. She was 80 years young and fondly known by her friends as "Minnie" and "Mother Goose." Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Tuesday, March 2, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. in the chapel. Services will be conducted by Dr. John Goodwin. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her three children and two sons-in-law, Corky and Bo Smith, Kim and Lamar Bevil, and Billy Lasseter; as well as her "granddogs," Tiger, Buddy and Duke. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Homer High School and attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. In previous years, she was active in many organizations, such as United Givers, Southeast Ministries, past president of Woman's Lions Club and past vice president of Holiday Dance. She was past vice president of Sherwood Country Club Ladies Golf Association and member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in the Friendship Class. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Bill Lasseter; daughter, Cindy; parents, John S. and Agnes Patton; brothers, Navy Lt. John S. Patton and Marine Olin Patton who both served their country; and sister, Annette Ward. Pallbearers will be Bo Smith, Lamar Bevil, Billy Lasseter, John Pace, Jerry LeBlanc and Paul Henderson. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Baton Rouge, and Southeast Ministries, Baton Rouge.
