A retired gardener at the LSU Athletic Department and a resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet after a long struggle with cancer. She was 77 and a native of Crystal Springs, Miss. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, May 3, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., conducted by Cissy Gremillion, with dismissal at 3:30 p.m. Survived by a daughter, Debbie Demarest; a sister, Kathryn Skipworth; a granddaughter, Kim Demarest; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Severio and JR Spencer. Everyone that knew her knew she was one of a kind! Preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Roberts; father, Cecil Roberts; and sister, Alice Brown. She was a beloved friend of the LSU athletes who came through Broussard Hall, a loyal fan and a dedicated retiree of the athletics department.
