Newman Peter Roblin passed away in his home on May 7, 2025. He was born on February 7, 1943. His parents were Joseph and Selina Tassin. He grew up with 4 sisters, Faye, Karen, Sally, and Lucille. He also had 3 brothers, Joseph, Hubert, and a twin brother, Newton.
After serving 4 years with the U.S. Army, stationed in Oklahoma, he moved around a little but ended up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He had several jobs, selling insurance at Sears, and ended up with a lifelong career at Exxon. While working at Sears, he would take measurements for uniforms for people working with the State of Louisiana. One day, while working at Sears, he met Paula Mansur. They were married on June 24, 1967 and later had 2 Children: Lisa and Peter. After the passing of Paula, Newman remarried Jeannie Vidrine on July 21, 2017.
Newman was a devout catholic and a member of St. Thomas More parish. He also served with the Bordelon Legion Post 343. Newman had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. At any social event, he could find anyone and start a conversation. But if a dance floor was available, he could be found on the dance floor with any pretty lady, He was also a driving force behind the “Right to Life” movement in Baton Rouge. He was one of the founders of several facilities, such as the Pregnancy Problem Center and the Hosana House.
