Nina Rose Carazo Snapp, a beloved lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully under the compassionate care of Hospice on March 15, 2025, at the age of 85.
Nina devoted 25 years to her career as the Operating Room Coordinator at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital, where her dedication and professionalism left an indelible mark. She was a kind and generous soul who will always be remembered for her warmth and infectious zest for life.
Her deep love for music was a defining part of her life, especially her unwavering efforts to honor and preserve the musical legacy of her grandfather, Castro Carazo, who served as the band director for Louisiana State University from 1934 to 1940. Nina’s passion for music and her commitment to her family’s heritage were inspiring to all who knew her.
Nina leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her surviving family, including her sons, Rocky Roussel (Janice Roussel) and Britt Roussel Sr.; daughter, Morgan Snapp Dupas (Jeremy Dupas); stepson, Shane Snapp (Staci Snapp); her grandchildren, Jules Roussel, Britt James Roussel Jr., Brandon Roussel (April Roussel), Erin Guillory Powers, Charles Cale, Adelyn Dupas, Ayden Dupas, Sarah Jane Snapp, Bryson Snapp, and Morgan Wade; her great-grandchildren, Chandler Cross Powers, Carter Powers, Bree Mitchell, Brayden Mitchell, and Evelyn Landry; her brothers Edwin Carazo Jr. (Gail Carazo) and Ronnie Carazo (Cheryl Carazo) and her longtime friend, John Potts.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Charles William Snapp; her parents, Rosalee Matranga and Edwin Carazo Sr.; her sister, Linda Kay Carazo; and her beautiful daughter, Tammie Roussel Guillory.
Nina’s life was a celebration of joy, music, and compassion, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones and all who had the honor of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. 70815 on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until service time. Burial will immediately follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
