Nita Evelyn Sides

A beloved and gracious wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she passed into the Lord's hands on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010. She was 79 and a resident of Central. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald "Cooter" Sides; sons, Gary Sides and wife Gail, of Seymour, Tenn., and Ken Sides and wife Darlene, of Central; daughter, Kay Greely and husband Jason, of Central; grandchildren, Damon Sides, Amie Sides Cahill and husband Ben, Christie Sides, Brandon Greely and wife Holly, Karen Sides Moore, Alicia Greely Hart and husband Jason, and Joshua Sides; and great-grandchildren, Kyra and Annalyse Greely, Hayden and Addyson Moore, Kyler and Gracelyn Hart and Emerson Cahill. She is also survived by sisters, Jean Nauman, Linda Hodgeson and Sue York Halliday; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Hodgeson; sisters, Bobbye Kimbrough, Elaine Gardner and Judith Ann Hodgeson; and brother, Jimmy Hodgeson. She will always be remembered as a sweet-spirited, Godly woman who gave of herself to her friends and her church. She was active in the Young at Heart adult group and Sanctuary Choir at Zoar Baptist Church, and a member of the Central Eastern Star. She also volunteered countless hours of service to her church and community. She was a wonderful cook, an avid gardener and loved to fish and travel. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her entire family, making memories that will never be forgotten. She gave unconditionally to those she loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visiting at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, Central, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, and 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by Brother Glen Miers. Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Damon Sides, Brandon Greely, Joshua Sides, Jason Hart, Ben Cahill and Steve Raborn.
