

A native of Bogalusa and a resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 12, 2010. Mr. Holden was a longtime employee of Ethyl Corp., a certified GMC mechanic and loved to work on "American-made" cars. He was also a former member of the Louisiana National Guard, and a charter member of First Baptist Church Central. Preceded in death by his father, Richard Hardy Holden; mother, Ethyl Lee Mulford Holden; and brother, Gilbert Holden. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Joyce Hunt Holden; daughter, Karen Holden Gros and son-in-law, Durwood Gros; son, Richard Darren Holden; grandchildren, Nicole Gros Cabrera and husband Asher, Ashley Gros, Christina Gros, Sean Stockstill Holden; great-grandson, Ryan Cabrera; and brother, Michael Holden and wife Evelyn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church in Central, 9676 Sullivan Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70817. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service at 2:30 p.m. Burial in Hillview Memorial Gardens, Bogalusa.
