

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Norma “Granny” Stewart, who left this world peacefully at her home on July 18, 2026. Born on October 6, 1940, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Norma was a treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her love of Jesus, her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community will be deeply missed.
Norma was the cherished wife of Lonnie Wayne Stewart Sr., with whom she shared 66 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. She was a devoted mother to Lonnie Stewart Jr. (Susan), Byron Stewart (Kelly), Becky Price (Scott), and Phyllis Callahan (Joel). Her love and legacy extend through her grandchildren, Lauren Madison (Brad), Cassie Stewart, Randy Price (Jade), Holley Wheeler, Hillary Wheat (Dalton), Elizabeth Stewart (Kyle), and Haley Callahan, as well as her great-grandchildren, Connor Blalock, Ethan Madison, Baylor Dufren, Lorelei Dufren, Holden Wheat, Bennett Wheat, Macy Wheat, Kyler Booluck, Cayden Wheeler, Avery Wheeler, Matilda Fitzpatrick, and Wyatt Price. Norma is also survived by her siblings, Diane Heard, Pat Dungan, Alvin Dungan, Carolyn Cooper, and Butch Grenada.
She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Edna Dungan, and her siblings Juanita Dunaway, Joan Beverson, Edna Earl Milton, and Thomas Dungan, with whom she is now joyfully reunited.
Norma was an active and beloved member of Zoar Baptist Church, where she found great joy in singing with the choir. Her passion for community service was evident in her instrumental role in running the ceramic ministry at Zoar, where she touched many lives with her creativity and kindness.
More than anything, Norma treasured her family. She relished celebrating milestones and cheering on her “grands” and “greats”, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come. Her legacy of love, faith and family will forever live on in the hearts of those who were truly blessed to know her.
A service to honor and celebrate Norma's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Visitation from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Service at 2:00 pm with the Graveside service to follow. Donations can be made to St. Jude, reflecting Norma’s generous spirit and love for helping others.
The Stewart family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Hospice Specialist of Louisiana and The Claiborne at Shoe Creek. Their kindness, dedication, and support brought comfort to Norma and her family and will always be remembered with heartfelt appreciation.
