

Norris Wade O'Neal, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on August 23, 1932, to the late Doyle and Thelma O'Neal. Norris lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community. Norris was a man who never met a stranger. His quick wit and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. A true embodiment of kindness and generosity, he was always ready with a story or a helping hand. His spirit and humor were infectious, making him a cherished friend to many.
On September 1st, 1956, Norris married the love of his life, Mary Denicola O'Neal. Together, they shared a remarkable 69-year journey. Their marriage was a testament to unwavering love and partnership, inspiring all who had the privilege of witnessing their union. They built a beautiful family, nurturing a legacy that will continue to flourish through their two sons, Kenneth O’Neal (Jean) and Byron O’Neal, as well as their three granddaughters: Jennifer LeJeune, Terri Thibodaux, and Lauren Conger (Robert). He was also blessed with six great grandchildren who filled his days with joy: Megan, Emma, and Luke LeJeune, along with Kaylee, Cory, and Taylor Thibodaux.
Norris enjoyed a fulfilling career with the General Services Administration, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. After retirement, he continued working at the Denicola Furniture upholstery businesses. Despite his professional commitments, he always made time for his passions. He enjoyed working on the family farm, gardening, and traveling, especially camping. He also loved playing cards and taking care of the birds in his backyard. These activities brought him peace and happiness, and he often shared these joys with his family, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, his sons and their families, as well as his siblings Marvin O'Neal (JoAnn), Larry O'Neal, and Jean Mobley (Charles). He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Thelma O'Neal, and his dear sister, Marilyn Haygood. Norris will be remembered not only for the life he led but for the love he gave and the lives he touched. His legacy of kindness and family devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. 70815 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
