Born May 25, 1915, Oliver Charlton Barnett, 94, passed away at Ochsner Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nadine Harrell Barnett; and grandson, Windy Wilson. He will be greatly missed by his son, Michael Ray Barnett, his wife, Haley; daughter, Billie Barnett Wilson. He is also survived by grandchildren Robbin W. Guidroz, Randy D. Wilson and Kristy W. Davis and great-grandchildren Cody and Jacob Davis, Timmy and Todd Guidroz and Megan, Mallory and Mason Martin. He was everybody's friend and Paw-Paw. He never met a stranger and his word was his bond. He loved his family most of all. He was an old-fashioned man, honest, hard working and a gentleman who had a sense of humor that was awesome. He loved to tell jokes and stories. He will be terribly missed by everyone, but we know he had a long, productive life and now it is God's will for him to be in heaven. It's comforting to know he's going to see loved ones, talk about old times and probably tell a few jokes. We are all looking forward to seeing him again when God calls us home. Graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Bobby Dale Callender.
