Though his life was far too brief, Ollie filled every day with more joy, laughter and adventure than most people could fit into a lifetime. He was remarkably bright, endlessly curious and naturally charismatic—a brilliant little flame who drew people toward him and left everyone he met smiling. He was sweet, kindhearted and happiest when he was playing with the people he loved—which, for Ollie, was just about everyone.
Ollie belonged outdoors. He loved animals, exploring the woods, playing outside with his Pokni and Mafo and feeling the wind rush through his hair. He was happiest when life felt like an adventure—being flipped upside down, play-fighting with his family, sneaking in a good punch on Mafo or laughing with his parents, aunts and uncles. His laughter could fill a room and lift the hearts of everyone around him.
Ollie also loved playing with his cousins, especially Liam. Like close cousins often do, they could get on each other’s nerves, try to get one another in trouble and act as though they wanted nothing to do with each other—only to be back together moments later, playing in the sand, romping through the yard, harassing MamMaw's chickens and then wondering where the other one had gone. Beneath all their mischief, they were true little buddies who always found their way back to one another.
Music brought Ollie tremendous happiness. He loved listening, singing and dancing with his Mama, aunts and uncles, often requesting the same favorite song again and again. No matter how many times it played, the joy on his face made everyone willing to hear it one more time.
Ollie and his Mama shared so many special moments together. They loved watching movies, sprawling out in the living room, surrounded by Ollie’s toys as they played, imagined and created adventures in his own little toy-land universe. They enjoyed walking through the yard together to admire the plants, and during their many late-night cooking adventures, Ollie discovered just how much he loved a good steak.
Ollie and his Dad shared an unbreakable bond. They loved walking through the woods together and exploring nature, playing baseball and bouncing and tumbling on the trampoline while laughing and smiling together. When his daddy was around, Ollie wanted no one else—it was always Dad time.
Like any adventurous little boy, Ollie loved superheroes -he especially loved the mischief caused by the villains, though. Some of his favorites were Spider-Man, Luigi, Bowser and of course Minecraft. But dinosaurs held an especially important place in his heart. His family could often hear him roaring from another room while he played with them ... the plant-eaters did not often win. He learned dino names with astonishing ease and was always ready to correct anyone who confused a Brontosaurus with a Brachiosaurus. His intelligence, confidence and funny little way of setting the grown-ups straight made him unforgettable.
Ollie was also a boy with big dreams. He talked about becoming a firefighter, an EMT and a chef like his Mama and aunts. He loved “helping” anyone who had car trouble and was always ready to be part of whatever repair or project was happening. He enjoyed honey buns and Slim Jims, loved making everyone laugh and was never too busy for a good snuggle with his Mama.
Ollie was goofy, adventurous, spirited and strong. He loved deeply and was deeply loved. Every day with him was a blessing, and every memory he created will remain a treasure. His family will always wonder about the life he might have lived, but they will also remain forever grateful for the extraordinary life he shared with them.
Ollie is survived by his loving parents, José Zuniga Jr. and Kaitlyn Billiot; his grandparents, Mary “Pokni” Billiot and Davidson “Mafo” Billiot Jr.; his great-grandparents, Ruth “MamMaw” Mott and Royce “PawPaw” Mott; Grandma Sharlene Ford; his aunts and uncle, Destiny “Aunt Dez” Billiot, Renée “Auntie Nae” Billiot and Davidson “Uncle Mitch” Billiot; the Zuniga family of Texas; and many additional aunts, uncles, cousins, great-grandparents and family members who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his great-uncle, Darrell Carter; great-aunt, Misty Mott; grandfather, Edwin Ford Jr.; and Maw-Gale Pecanty.
Serving as pallbearers will be Davidson Billiot, John Carr, Kevin Carr III and Raymond Alvarez. Honorary pallbearers will be Davidson Billiot Jr., Damien Carr, Marlin Pecanty, Andrew Alvarez, Jennifer Nichols and TJ Bordelon.
His family finds comfort in knowing that God has welcomed Ollie home. Although that homecoming came far sooner than anyone wanted or expected, the light God placed within him has not disappeared. It lives on through every story, every laugh, every adventure and every loving memory he gave to those fortunate enough to know him.
Ollie taught his family to live with curiosity, courage, laughter and wonder. They will carry those gifts forward, keeping his beautiful spirit alive in all that they do until the day they are reunited with him again.
Ollie was here for only a little while, but the love and light he brought into this world will last forever.
