A retired Unit Operator from Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals, currently known as Solvay Chemicals and resident of Baton Rouge, died at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. He was 85 and a native of Plaquemine. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Monday, February 9, 2015, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Oron was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Geraldine Boudreaux Rivet. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie J. and Karen L. Rivet and Robert W. and Kelli T. Rivet; sister, Gloria A. Rivet; and four grandchildren, Ashley Rivet, Amber Rivet, Wyatt Rivet, and Cooper Rivet. Oron was also preceded in death by his son, Timothy Paul Rivet; father, Oron J. Rivet Sr.; and mother, Nellie M. Rivet. Oron was a 1948 graduate of Istrouma High School.
