
A native of Baton Rouge, Otis "Dude" Trahan Forbes Sr., 86, died Sunday morning, Sept. 24, 2006. He was a 1938 graduate of Baton RougeHigh Schooland attended LSU. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a retired local businessman. He was also a flying deputy for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Bryan Clemmons. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday was from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m.Visiting resumes at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday from 10 a.m.until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Worrell. Interment in GreenoaksMemorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Davis Forbes; three daughters, Tina Forbes Blanchard, Donna Forbes Meyer and husband Edward Meyer III, Toni Forbes Perkins and husband Kenneth; a son, Otis Trahan Forbes Jr. and wife Carol. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Holly Blanchard Higginbotham and husband Andrew, Brad Denham, Margaux Van Pelt Shamblin and husband Michael, Jonathan and Alexander Meyer, Michelle Forbes and Rachel Perkins; three great-grandchildren, Dakota Shamblin, Brady Higginbotham and Brittany Denham; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Myra Forbes. Preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Forbes Van Pelt; parents, Joseph and Pearl Dreher Forbes; a brother, Joseph "Jay" Forbes; sisters, Lorena Forbes Ray and Juanita Forbes Guitreau. Mr. Forbes' son, grandsons, sons-in-law and nephew will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Buzz Blanchard, Joe Forbes and John Weld. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Central and an avid fisherman who loved spending time at his camp in Grand Isle.
