Patricia Ashley Vickery Bowen

Patricia Ashley Bowen, age 74, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Vickrey, and mother, Gladys Campbell. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Brandon John Bowen and her husband, Michael John Bowen. They were married in 1985 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor church in Chalmette, Louisiana.

Patricia was also a beloved aunt to Danny Bowen and his wife, Courtney; Tommy Hoke and his wife, Leigh; Ben Homra and his wife, Aimee; Matthew Cuter and his wife, Mairin. She is also survived by her three sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Gretta) Bowen, Barbara Brown and Elizabeth Bowen; her brother-in-law, Patrick Bowen; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Patricia graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School and Respiratory Therapy School and later graduated with honors from LSU School of Nursing. After 30 years of service at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, she was forced to retire early from nursing following Hurricane Katrina. She worked nights and weekends not for herself, but to give her family the opportunity for a better life. Caring for others was simply who Patricia was.

The Bowen family moved to Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina, where Patricia began working as a Case Manager until her retirement in 2021. Throughout her life, Patricia gave of herself freely and often put the needs of others before her own. She was unselfish in every facet of her life and rarely thought twice about making a personal sacrifice if it meant helping someone she loved. Her compassion knew few limits, and her empathy and kindness extended not only to people, but to animals as well. She had a special love for her dogs Max, Pearl, Lily, and, of course, Izzy.

Patricia's life was defined not by what she received from others, but by what she was willing to give. She spent her life caring for others, putting their needs before her own, and asking for very little in return. Her kindness, generosity, and willingness to sacrifice for the people she loved will be among the greatest parts of her legacy.

We wish to thank all of the staff at Baton Rouge General Hospital, specifically the nurses and doctors within the ICU-B unit on the 2nd floor, for the excellent care and kindness they provided to Patricia.

Relatives and friends are invited to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, for a visitation from 12 PM until the Funeral Mass at 1 PM.
