Patricia “Pat” Margaret Thompson Melancon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Pat was the second eldest of eight children born to Josephine and Pershing Thompson, and she acted as a second mother to her younger siblings. Pat attended LSU and retired from Dow Chemical and later, Cooper Industries in Houston, TX. She was a life-long lover of books and enjoyed dancing and cooking. Pat was very proud of her Italian heritage and was well known along with her mother and sisters for their delicious fig cookies. Friends and family anxiously awaited her numerous tins of Christmas cookies and delicacies, and she always had more than enough to go around. Pat is preceded in death by her husband Wilfred; her parents; and her sister, Pegi. She is survived by her children Melissa, Wendy, and Chris Broussard; four grandchildren; Wilfred’s children, Alan, Mark, and Glenn Melancon, and Margie Coomer; and her siblings Darlyn Percle, Tommy Thompson, Michael Thompson, Kathleen “Kitty” Lord, Timmy Thompson, and Lisa Dufour. The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Andrew and Marlene and their staff at West Towne Assisted Living for their exceptional loving care of Pat. Haley and Meagan at Bridgeway Hospice also provided compassionate support and comfort in her final days. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 9am until the time of funeral services at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pat’s memory to Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area.
