

Pat earned her Bachelor of Science degree in early Childhood Education at St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1974. She was a creative and devoted first-grade teacher who formed life-long friendships with her students, their families and her colleagues.
She was an active member of Broadmoor Methodist Church, the Krewe of Artemis and the Woman’s Club of Baton Rouge. Pat was a proud member of the Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta. As the wife of an Army officer, she embraced a life of travel moving twenty times around the world including Germany, Korea and throughout the United States.
Pat had a deep love for reading and traveling. Her greatest joy was the time she spent creating cherished memories with her husband, five children, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her sons, Ken Richards (Beth) and Tim Richards (Tonda); daughters, Jill Richards Kalimeris (Andreas), Becky Richards Hearn (Darrel) and Meg Richards Gerald (Don); grandchildren, Tanner Richards (Taylor), Reeves Richards (Maritza), Tarin Richards Worrest (Alan), Tyler Richards, Tessa Richards, Walsh Hearn (Sarah), Will Hearn, Megan Hearn Rhyne (Matt), Rainey Gerald and Fallon Gerald Tullier (Devin) and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Max Richards; parents, Allen Ferdinand Walsh and Louise Rainey Walsh; sister, Betty Ruth Walsh; father-in-law, William Elmer Richards and mother-in-law, Polly Verona Sams Richards; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Richards Pagan and brother-in-law, Roy Pagan.
A visitation will be held on May 13, 2026, at Broadmoor United Methodist Church from 9-11AM with a funeral service beginning at 11AM. Inurnment will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary at 1PM.
In lieu of flower, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge.
