Patricia “Trish” Sedlin passed away on June 19, 2026, at the age of 89. Born March 11, 1937, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Trish lived an adventure-filled life that was sustained by steady devotion, loyal friendship, and a deep commitment to serving others. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she was widely respected for the grace and purpose with which she moved through each season of life.
Trish earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from LSU. Soon after college, she met the love of her life, Len. Their 65 years of marriage began with a shared willingness to step into the unfamiliar, leading them to live around the world in Gladstone, Australia, as well as in Weybridge, England and Sardinia, Italy—experiences that beautifully reflected her adventurous spirit.
Her service to her community was both enduring and substantial. Early on, she served as a Province President for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Later, Trish worked as a substitute teacher and gave generously of her time to numerous organizations. She was a member of the Lagniappe Women’s Club, the Louisiana Federation of Women’s Clubs, Trianon, PEO, Auxiliary for ARC, and the Inter-Civic Council, and she volunteered as a librarian for the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. She was also an enthusiastic supporter and volunteer for the Walk to Remember and Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area. For her consistent service and leadership, she was honored as a Volunteer Activist by The Emerge Center.
Trish was a longtime member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where her faith was expressed through steadfast involvement in the Hope Circle, Altar Guild, and the church food pantry. Outside of her volunteer work, she loved the Garden Club, played bridge, loved to cook, and cheered faithfully for LSU football. She found immense joy in her lifelong friendships and in caring for her family. Trish had the joy of furry companionship her entire life and was absolutely devoted to the many dogs (and one cat) that were part of her home.
Throughout her life, Trish remained a devoted wife and a loving, supportive presence to her children and grandchildren, offering quiet constancy and a loyalty that could be counted on without question.
Trish is survived by her loving husband, Len Sedlin; her son, David Sedlin of Dallas, Texas; her daughter, Elizabeth Buie; and her grandchildren, Avery Buie, Matthew Buie, and David Buie, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Mayo Parr and Dorothy Cross Parr, and her brother, James Parr.
In lieu of flowers, and if friends desire, contributions may be sent to Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area in Trish’s honor.
Visitation will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Dr, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, US, on June 26, 2026, from 1:00PM to 2:00PM, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location beginning at 2:00PM. Burial is to follow at Greenoak's Memorial Park.
