
Paul Carl Boudreaux, 87, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, in Baton Rouge. He was a native of Crosby, Miss. He graduated from Tulane University with a degree in architecture, and from LSU with a degree in civil engineering. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps after serving in the Pacific Theater from December 1942 until December 1945. He was a registered architect, civil engineer and land surveyor for more than 50 years. His firm, Paul C. Boudreaux & Associates, did the structural design work for some of the first high-rise buildings in Baton Rouge, located outside of downtown, including Wooddale Tower and the original Blue Cross building on Florida Boulevard. Paul was responsible for the planning, surveying, design, and construction of more than 150 subdivisions in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas as well as for the planning and design for numerous East Baton Rouge Parish city streets, parish roads and state highways. From the 1960s through the 1990s, he directed the planning, design and construction of numerous drainage and sewerage facilities in and around East Baton Rouge Parish. He was a member of the East Baton Rouge Airport Commission for many years and served on the East Baton Rouge Parish Board of Appeals, deciding matters relating to building code variances from its founding until his retirement in 2004, and was its chairman for most of that time. He also was a longtime member of the board of directors for the O'Brien House, and chairman for many of those years. He was a personal friend of Bill Wilson, and was well-known, loved and respected in the Baton Rouge recovery community. He was a loving husband and father, and friend to many, truly living his life by the Golden Rule. His parents, Stephen Paul and Lucy Corbin Boudreaux, his son, Stephen Lane Boudreaux, as well as his wife of 48 years, Eileen McGehee Boudreaux, preceded him in death. Survived by his son, Gerry Deer Boudreaux, and close family friend, Flossie Mae Earl, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
