"Peg O' my heart, I Love You." A.J. She was 81, a homemaker and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. She died at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Heritage House after a brief illness. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m. Survived by her daughter, Marlene Maranto Scanlon; three sons, John Maranto and wife Debbie, Lee Maranto and Kim Maranto; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "A.J." Maranto; parents, Joseph and Olea Neff Bergeron; and infant brother, Lee Marion Bergeron. She was a 1943 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and attended Spencer Business College, having served as secretary. She also served as secretary to Francis Landry, attorney-at-law. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
