
A resident of Baton Rouge and a retired Sears major appliance salesman with 33 years of service, he died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Sherwood Manor. He was 88 and a native of Cinclare. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 30th Infantry Division. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Aug. 7, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jerry Martin, celebrant. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law, Carmen and Kevin Ross, and Kay F. DeBenedetto, all of Baton Rouge; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Janna DeBenedetto, of Baton Rouge; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Nick Spitale, of Baton Rouge; two brothers and a sister-in-law, George and Marge DeBenedetto, of Atlanta, and Anthony DeBenedetto, of Baton Rouge; and three grandchildren, Bradley J. Ross, of Indianapolis, and Rachel Lynn DeBenedetto and Camille Grace DeBenedetto, both of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Josie Civello DeBenedetto; parents, Rocco DeBenedetto Sr. and Camella Corrente DeBenedetto; six brothers, Charlie, Frank, Nick, Russell, Joe and Rocco Jr.; and two sisters, Anne and Mary. He was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion.
