
A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Elizabeth, he passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at his home at age 96. Visitation at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 1 p.m. until funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He received his Ph.D. from LSU, attended Harvard Business School of Administration, received a bachelor's degree from LSU in 1936 and attended Chicago Musical College. He was an assistant to the director at the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, assistant to the provost marshal general of the U.S. Army (Reserve Mobilization) and served two years as provost marshal of Iceland. Dr. Glaze had a total of 37 years of service with the military. He served as president of the board of directors of the Central Branch of the Y.M.C.A. and chairman of the United Givers Campaign at LSU. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and member of the official board and chairman of the education committee. In addition, Dr. Glaze was a member of Boyd-Ewing Post 24 of the American Legion and served as president of Knife and Fork Club of Baton Rouge. At LSU, he was the captain of the Rifle Team, business manager of the Gumbo, concert master of the LSU Symphony and a member of Sigma Chi and ODK. He was the author of the "Business Administration for Colleges and Universities," LSU Press 1962. Dr. Glaze is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eva Elizabeth Smoke Glaze; daughter, Eva Carolyn Glaze Glusman; and grandchildren, Melynn Elizabeth Glusman and husband Timothy Anders Nordgren, and Laurea Glusman McAllister and husband John Michael McAllister. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lillian Glaze; and son-in-law, the Rev. Edward Francis Glusman Jr. Pallbearers will be Paul Connelly, Sullivan Brown, Dan Collins and Stephen Glusman. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church.
